For many years, Motorcycle Speedway in Scotland has been a big part of the country’s sports scene, exciting fans with brave riders, loud engines, and a dedicated community. From its best days in the mid-1900s to the lively tracks now, Scottish Speedway is still an important part of the country’s sports history.
A Brief History
Speedway racing first became popular in Scotland in the 1920s and 30s, growing even more after the war. The exciting sight of four riders racing around a dirt oval track without brakes quickly drew large crowds. Glasgow and Edinburgh became main centres for the sport, with professional teams and loyal fans.
